Dongok Kang
Kang Dong-ok completed her doctoral coursework in Home Management at Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea. For the past 12 years, she has served as a missionary in Taiwan, living and working in a cross-cultural context. Through the challenges and gifts of living in a different language, culture, and environment, she has cultivated a warm heart and deep spirituality, embracing the value of “One Relationship at a Time.” This philosophy reflects her belief that genuine encounters and healing relationships begin with caring for one person at a time.
While adapting to a new culture and navigating the complexities of cross-cultural life, Kang encountered Imago Relationship Therapy, an experience that profoundly shaped her understanding of relationships and deepened her awareness of the self. This encounter inspired her to pursue further training in counseling and eventually to begin doctoral studies in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at Daybreak University in California, where she deepened her understanding of relational healing and family systems.
Through personal and relational challenges that brought significant shifts in perspective, Kang came to recognize that moments of crisis can also become gateways to growth and transformation. Today, she brings together warmth, deep spirituality, and professional training to create spaces of safety and trust where individuals and couples can express themselves honestly. Grounded in person-centered and relationship-centered approaches, she walks alongside clients with sincerity, clarity, and dedication, supporting them in restoring connection and intimacy in their most meaningful relationships.
Serving for many years in a multicultural missionary context has given Kang a deep and compassionate understanding of the unique experiences of multicultural families, immigrant families, missionaries, and pastoral families. With sensitivity and care, she helps individuals and families discover the inner resources that can support healing, resilience, and renewed relationships.
She is a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist (CIRT) and a Certified Couples Workshop Presenter (CWP – in training), as well as a Prepare/Enrich counselor and couples therapist. In her work, she gently accompanies individuals, couples, and families as they learn to express vulnerable emotions and hidden longings in safe ways. She helps clients nurture compassion for themselves while restoring meaningful connections with their spouses, children, and loved ones.
With a deep understanding of human development across the lifespan and a systems-oriented perspective, Kang is committed to supporting individuals, couples, and families as they move toward greater understanding, healing, and relational wholeness.
