Dongok Kang
Senior Associate Counselor
Kang Dong-ok completed her doctoral coursework in Home Management at Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea and has been serving as a missionary in a cross-cultural context in Taiwan, where she has lived for 12 years. Despite differences in language, culture, and environment, she lives with a warm heart and spirituality, valuing “One Relationship at a Time”—meaning genuine encounters and healing relationships with one person at a time.
While adapting to a new culture and environment, Kang discovered Imago Couple Therapy, which helped her understand relationship dynamics and deepen self-awareness. This inspired her to pursue doctoral studies in Marriage and Family Therapy(MFT) at Daybreak University in California.
Facing crises that led to paradigm shifts in relationships, Kang Dong-ok now forms healing relationships with warmth, deep spirituality, and professionalism. She dedicates herself wholeheartedly to fostering safe environments where individuals can express themselves openly, emphasizing person-centered and relationship-centered approaches. She commits to restoring intimate relationships with sincerity, a clear mind, and unwavering dedication. Especially as a missionary in a multicultural context, she deeply and delicately understands the situations of multicultural families, immigrant families, missionaries, and pastoral families, aiming to help uncover and overcome the life resources they need.
Kang Dong-ok is a certified Imago Relationship Therapist (CIRT), a Certified Couples Workshop Presenter (in training: CWP), Prepare/Enrich counselor, and couple counselor. She accompanies individuals and families in safely expressing hidden desires safely when vulnerabilities surface in their relationships—helping them care for themselves and restore broken connections with themselves, their spouses, and their children in healthy ways. She is a well-trained counselor specializing in individual, couple, marriage, and family therapy, with a deep understanding of personal and family characteristics across the life span and developmental stages, and with the ability to view families within their broader systems.
