Dr. Tae J. Oh
Founder/Director
Dr. Tae J. Oh is the Founder and Director of The Bridge International Hub. Drawing on nearly 30 years of experience as a Korean immigrant in the United States, she has a deep understanding of the challenges and emotional struggles faced by first-generation immigrants, multicultural families, and their second- and third-generation children as they navigate relationships and adaptation across diverse cultural contexts. She applies this insight in her clinical work, providing professional support to individuals, couples, and families.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from George Mason University, Dr. Oh volunteered for over a decade at a non-profit organization dedicated to family restoration, which inspired her to pursue a career in counseling. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Washington University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Daybreak University in California.
With over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Oh integrates a variety of therapeutic approaches to help clients understand and express their own and others’ emotions, experience emotional healing and recovery, and build healthier, more authentic relationships. She has also contributed to community mental health as a columnist for The Korea Daily, a seminar facilitator in public schools, and a program developer and trainer for non-profit organizations. Currently, Dr. Oh is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC & LPC) and a Board-Approved Supervisor in Maryland, providing both clinical counseling and supervision.
After relocating to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Dr. Oh founded The Bridge International Hub to support local residents, expatriates, and Korean immigrants from diverse cultural backgrounds in navigating emotional and relational challenges.
Guided by her belief that “change is possible,” Dr. Oh approaches counseling with the trust that clients already possess the capacity for healing within themselves. In her practice, she creates a safe and welcoming space where clients who take the courageous step to enter the room can explore their authentic self / true self without judgment and embark on their journey of healing. She believes that the foundation of successful counseling lies in the trust and connection between counselor and client, and she provides guidance and support to help clients overcome life’s obstacles and move toward their goals.
Dr. Oh understands how emotional difficulties, such as depression, anxiety, compulsions, anger, or spiritual conflicts, can manifest in recurring patterns within relationships. She works carefully to help clients recognize these patterns and create new, positive cycles in their lives. She provides evidence-based integrative counseling tailored to each client’s cultural, familial, and individual characteristics, supporting gradual growth and recovery both within themselves and in their relationships.
Outside of counseling, Dr. Oh maintains balance in body and mind through daily stretching and self-care practices. She finds deep rest and inspiration in the gentle breeze, the sound of flowing water, and the colors and light of the sky during walks. These small moments of daily mindfulness enrich her counseling practice, bringing warmth and vitality. Above all, her faith provides unwavering motivation and purpose, guiding her to accompany clients’ journeys with empathy, hope, and humility.
